Jonathan Brielle

Jonathan Brielle is a Composer, Lyricist and Book Writer. He has four shows in various stages of development. On Broadway he wrote the songs for Foxfire staring legends Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn. As Composer in Residence at Circle Rep in NY under Marshal Mason and Landford Wilson, he wrote songs and scores for many plays including a new version of Fifth of JulyThe Great Grandson of Jedidiah Kohler, and Besides Herself. His recent theater credits include: Nightmare Alley (book, music, lyrics) NYMF summer 2013 and Geffen Playhouse 2010, legendary Gil Gates Director;
Himself and Nora (book, music, lyrics) UCPAC 2013, NYMF 2012,
James Joyce Center Dublin 2008, 2009, Old Globe 2005. Jonathan’s
newest musical, 40 Naked Women, A Monkey & Me (book, music, lyrics) made its world premiere summer 2012 at The Eugene O’Neill
Cabaret Conference. His US and UK Tours include: Rugrats, Goosebumps Live!and Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus. His Las Vegas shows include: Enter The Night (book, music, lyrics) which ran for 12 years at the Stardust Hotel, and Madhattan (book, music, lyrics) which opened the New York, New York Hotel.

Jonathan volunteers and is serving his third term as Executive Vice President of the Johnny Mercer Foundation, where he has initiated educational programs that meet national standards for Title I schools in New York City, Newark, Los Angeles and Miami. He has also created and serves as the Writer/Producer in Residence of the Johnny Mercer Writers’ Colony at Goodspeed Musicals for the working professional in theater, and helps oversee the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Project at Northwestern University. Mr. Brielle mentors, teaches and co-writes with young writers. He also teaches a Songwriting Residency he created for public school
seventh grade language arts classes.
